About Sean Grorich

I was raised in a town of just over 700 people in central Wisconsin. In that kind of community, you learn early that service, hard work, and showing up for others aren’t just values—they’re a way of life. From helping local farmers to cutting wood and growing our own food, I learned what it means to put in the work and take care of the people around you.

That commitment to service led me to join the Air Force right out of high school. I served four years in law enforcement, then later rejoined in the Reserves as a Medical Service Specialist. It was in the military that I discovered a passion for healthcare—one that carried me through years of education, long shifts in hospitals, and ultimately to becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). I served patients with care and precision for over a decade—until a serious injury forced me to pivot once again.

But I’ve never been one to give up. I retrained in massage therapy, then took a leap and launched a coffee roastery and café—a dream I’d carried for years. Even through the challenges of the pandemic, we pressed forward, creating a space that brings people together, supports local jobs, and builds community.

My entire life has been about serving others—through military service, through healthcare, and as a small business owner. I know what it means to struggle, to pivot, to rebuild—and to get things done without excuses.

Too often, our leaders are out of touch with the realities most people face. I’m not a career politician—I’m someone who’s lived paycheck to paycheck, worked through pain, started from scratch, and never lost sight of why service matters.

I'm running because I believe government should work as hard as the people it represents. That means practical solutions, common-sense leadership, and putting people—not politics—first. Whether it’s affordable healthcare, supporting small businesses, or advocating for our veterans, I’ll bring real-world experience to the table—and I’ll never stop showing up for you.

Why I’m Running

Issues

  • As a State Senator, a key part of my job will be working to lower the cost of living for people across Wisconsin. From healthcare, to housing, to groceries, your state legislature should be fighting to make it easier for working families to get by.

  • Wisconsin turns down millions of dollars each year because of Madison’s refusal to expand Badgercare, which would give tens of thousands of Wisconsinites cheaper and more adequate healthcare coverage. As State Senator, I will fight to lower healthcare premiums, prescription drug costs, and will vote to expand Badgercare.

  • Part of what makes the 1st Senate District great is our stunning environment, from Lake Superior to Lake Michigan and everywhere in between our district is a great place to live. I am committed to preserving our land and water for future generations of Wisconsinites to enjoy.

  • Madison has consistently underfunded public education, meaning school districts around the state have to go to referendums that are temporary stopgaps to the problem. These referendums have increased property taxes, leaving taxpayers to pay for the mismanagement of public schools. As a State Senator, I’m committed to funding public schools to lower property taxes and protect an essential service the state government should be working harder to provide.

  • Government shouldn’t dictate the most personal decisions women and their families have to make. As a State Senator, I am committed to protecting these fundamental freedoms – and keep government out of your bedrooms and doctor’s offices.
